Poplar Places At Divisional Track Meet

After a tight race during the first 500 meters, Poplar’s Jazmin Gorder broke away to win the divisional championship for the 800-meter run in Glasgow on Saturday, May 22.
The junior ran down the stretch with a large smile on her face as her winning 2:26.64 time allowed her to win by a comfortable margin.
“I didn’t think I had it at all,” Gorder said after the victory. “I thought they were right behind me.”
The Indians finished with 33 points for eighth place in the girls’ division at the Northern B divisional track meet. Poplar’s boys scored 17 points for ninth place in the team standings.
Keandra Martell placed in four events for the Indians.
Martell finished third in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 17.9 seconds. The senior earned fourth in the 300-meter hurdles at 51.83 seconds and fourth in the discus with a mark of 88-03. She placed sixth in the javelin with a best of 95-06.
Gorder ran the 1600 in 5:36.72 for third-place honors.
Also scoring for Poplar’s girls were Jazmyn CarryWater with a time of 13:25.64 for sixth in the 3200 and Kessee Erickson with a best of 82-01 for sixth in the discus.
On the boys’ side, Tyler Pribbernow earned second in the javelin with a mark of 148-07.
Kaelen Smith, a senior, finished third in the 100 at 11.98 seconds and sixth in the 200 at 24.40 seconds.
Kameron Reum finished fifth in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 18.46 seconds.
