Title VI Parent Committee Reviews Positions

Wolf Point’s Title VI Parent Committee reviewed coordinator positions during its meeting held on Monday, May 3.

Angela Figueroa was hired in February as a home/school coordinator for Southside and the junior/senior high school. Sarah Chambers was hired in January as director of curriculum and instructional leadership.

School officials said because the hirings came in early 2021 instead of last August, there is about $8,000 funding available. A motion was approved to spend those funds on programs supplies for the home school coordinators during this year.

Cheryl Taylor is the family school coordinator at Northside. Currently teaching Native American Studies at the junior high and high schools are Jeromy Azure Jr. and Tressa Welch.

School officials reported that the total Indian student count was 684 out of 780 total enrolled students at Wolf Point Schools. The count date was Nov. 2 to Dec. 3, 2020. Based on the number of students, the school receive $160,710 in Title VI federal grant money.

Through CARES funding, two smaller vehicles have been purchased by the school for home school coordinators.

Rob Manning is serving as the committee’s chair. Cheri’ Nygard is secretary, Emily Hamilton is teacher representative and Kobe Manning is student representative. The committee is in the process of finding a new vice chair.
