According to Roosevelt County Undersheriff John Summers, Azure’s remains were found by fisherman in early summer last year on an island approximately three miles east of Poplar. Sheriff Jason Frederick has been in contact with the state crime lab in Missoula since the remains were sent for identification. DNA comparisons were made with samples taken from Azure’s relatives. “The family was very helpful,” said Summers. He said the identification was conclusive.
