Tennis Teams Open Season With Dual Tennis Teams Open Season With Dual

Tennis season opened as Wolf Point and Poplar players took to the courts on Thursday, April 1.

“Wolf Point’s girls had a successful day,” Coach Dan Horsmon said. “We got a lot of tennis in, got better and enjoyed the challenge against the Poplar Indians.”

The Wolves won six of the eight singles matches during the action.

Demi Kegley defeated Catherine Bear, 8-2, and Sierra LeMay, 8-5. Serenity Tibbits posted victories over Dusti Marottek, 8-4, and James Lemay, 6-0.

Also winning singles matches for the Wolves were Angelica Sutton over Bear, 8-6, and Julianne Garfield over Gracelyn Medicine Cloud, 8-2.

Earning singles victories for Poplar were Sierra Lemay over Sutton, 8-2, and Kahomani Charboneau over Rebecca Landsrud, 8-0.

The Indians scored wins in four of the five doubles matches played.

Poplar’s team of J. LeMay and Charboneau downed Jodi Houg and Mikaya Smoker- Dewitt, 8-2, and beat Kaylee Johnson and Kaleah Miller-Toves, 8-2.

Macey Dionne and Sydney Cummins defeated Houg and Smoker-Dewitt, 8-2. Marottek and Medicine Cloud edged Landsrud and Garfield, 7-5 in a tie-breaker.

Wolf Point’s Johnson and Miller-Toves defeated Dionne and Cummins, 7-4, in a tie-breaker.

The Wolves will host Forsyth on Friday, April 9, and Baker on Saturday, April 10.

The Indians are scheduled to play in Great Falls on Friday, April 9, and Saturday, April 10.
