Strommen Appeals Rape Conviction
Former Valley County undersheriff Luke Strommen was convicted in July of 2020 on the charge of sexual intercourse without consent, or rape. He has now filed a notice of appeal to the Montana Supreme Court on the conviction and sentencing in the case.
A12-personjuryfoundStrommen guilty of sexual intercourse without consent after a five day trial in Glasgow. On Dec. 8, Strommen was sentenced to 40 years in the Montana State Prison with the opportunity for parole after 10 years served.
Strommen is currently incarcerated in the Montana State Prison in Deer Lodge.
The notice of appeal was filed on Feb. 22 with the Montana Supreme Court. Strommen is represented by the Office of State Public Defender. Chad Wright is listed as the attorney in the court documents filed with the Supreme Court.
The only documents filed to date in the appeal have been the notice of appeal and a request of transcripts for court proceedings dealing with the case.
