Wolf Point School Board Hires Six, Rodenberg Appointed To Board
The Wolf Point School District trustees held their regular meeting March 15 at the district office. Six teacher hires were approved by the board: Janessa Haynie was approved for substitute teaching at the high school; Wyatt Murdoch, junior high track coach; Melissa Acenas, teacher; Lauren Haft, teacher; Grant Legare, counselor and Hannah Struttman, teacher.
Ryan Wilson, high school history/ government teacher, submitted his resignation.
Craig Rodenberg was appointed to fill the board position vacated by Janice Wemmer-Kegley. He will serve until the election in May. For more information about filling the pending board vacancy, visit wolfpointschools.org/page/ school-board-information.
Reports were heard from Sarah Chambers (acting Southside principal, director of administration and curriculum), Nothside principal Georgie Gourneau, junior high principal Greg Gourneau, high school principal Kim Hanks and acting superintendent Jim Baldwin.
Chambers told the board that Southside attendance is at 93.4 percent overall, with a total of 245 students. Georgie Gourneau said Northside has an overall attendance of 90.42 percent. Greg Gourneau reported an attendance rate of 84.51 percent for the eighth grade. Hanks said the high school student population is currently 220 students. She said attendance is down due to “senioritis.”
A resolution of intent to increase a non-vote levy was approved. The move is made annually and does not indicate a planned levy increase.
An out of district student attendance agreement was approved for a student from the Nordwick family, as was the 20-21-2022 district calendar.
The next regular board meeting will be April 12.
