An individual with a great deal of administrative experience and who is a familiar face to area residents will serve as Wolf Point’s acting superintendent starting on Monday, March 15.

Jim Baldwin has agreed to be serve as acting while Wolf Point’s superintendent of schools Loverty Erickson is on maternity leave.

“My hope is during my short time in Wolf Point is to assist the board, Mrs. Erickson during her maternity leave and the staff, students and community,” Baldwin said.

His experience includes serving as athletic director and dean of students in Wolf Point and being the superintendent of schools in Poplar for three years.

“I do not have any hidden agenda but will work for the district and protect the well being of the district,” Baldwin said. “I will not be here to change things and I am most certainly not here to work full-time, but I’m here to help and assist where I can until Mrs. Erickson returns.”

After an 18-year career as a teacher, coach and athletic director, Baldwin decided to earn an administration degree. His first superintendent position came in Roy during 1994. He served as superintendent in Melstone from 1995-1998. He was then hired in Albertson where he had a tenure of 15 years.

In 2014, he went to St. John, Wash., but then headed to Poplar. He was superintendent in Arlee for two years before retiring.
