School Board Awards Bid For Parking Lot, Sidewalks

The Wolf Point School District board of trustees held a special meeting Monday, Feb. 15. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss construction plans for the high school parking lot and consider bids for the project from two construction companies.

The board heard presentations by Century Company of Lewistown and Corland Construction of Sidney to complete repairs and improvements to the parking lots and sidewalks at the junior high and high school.

The price tag for the project is approximately $1 million. Funding for the projects will be shared with the state via a Delivering Local Assistance grant in the amount of $750,000. The district is responsible for the remaining $250,000.

The district awarded the project to Century. It will include the repaving of the parking lot and the installation of heated sidewalks to prevent injuries related to ice and snow.

Century is scheduled to complete the project by Aug. 14.

Correction: In last week’s article about the Feb. 11 regular board meeting, it was mistakenly reported that board chair Mark Kurokawa resigned from his position. The only board resignation offered at the meeting was for trustee Janice Wemmer-Kegley. Kurokawa’s term is expiring and he will seek reelection during the election.
