Several Sentenced In District Court

Two sentencing hearings took place and pleas were completed during cases in district court on Wednesday, Dec. 16.

Andre Jean Reum received five-year deferred sentences and was fined $1,000 for each criminal possession of dangerous drugs counts.

Reum will be given credit for 146 days served. District Judge David Cybulski noted that Reum has no felony criminal history. The drugs involved in the case were meth and morphine.

Connor Jeffrey Shipstead of Scobey received a fouryear deferred sentence for criminal endangerment. He’s required to have a chemical dependency evaluation performed.

“Don’t screw up. I’m not as friendly next time,” Cybulski told Shipstead about the deferred sentence. As part of a plea agreement, Christopher Spillman changed his plea to guilty for criminal possession of dangerous drugs. Spillman said that when the vehicle he was in on Nov. 18, was stopped in Wolf Point, he was searched and had drugs in his pocket.

A pre-sentencing investigation was ordered prior to sentencing. The maximum sentence is five years in prison and a $5,000 fine.

Cybulski released Shipstead on his own recognizance. “Don’t do anything stupid, it will come back to bite you,” the judge said.

Jessica Marie Taylor entered not guilty pleas for criminal possession of dangerous drugs and criminal possession of drug paraphernalia.

An omnibus hearing was scheduled for Feb. 10. The trial is set for March 11-12.
