Obituaries Arnold Douglas

Arnold Francis Douglas, 65, of Poplar died in Billings on Dec. 16, 2020.
He was born in Poplar on Feb. 23, 1955, to Joseph and Christine (Davis) Douglas. He grew up in Poplar on the “West End” and went to grade school there. He then went to Busby Boarding School in Busby until seventh grade. He then lived with his sister and brother-in-law, Vivian and Earl Jones Jr. He liked to go hunting with them.
When he was 16, he and his nephew Nathan Crazy Bull signed up for N.Y.C. (Neighborhood Youth Corps), a U.S. Government program at the time. The young ladies that did the paperwork put his birth year down as the same as his nephew’s, so that he was two years older than he really was. In 1971, the war was still going on in Vietnam. He and his friend enlisted in the United States Marine Corps under a 180-day delayed plan. He also asked his mother to sign a paper to let him join. After boot camp and some further training, he deployed with F.M.F. Pacific on the U.S.S. Vancouver out of Long Beach, Calif. He served in the 1st Marine Division, 3rd Marine Air Wing and Special Services. He served three years and was discharged.
He spent nine years (1974 to 1983) living a bad life of addictions until he asked God to forgive him of his sins and received Jesus as his Lord and Savior in September 1983. He always said that no matter what the trials or tribulations were in his life, after he was saved the Lord always helped him and did not forsake him. He and his two brothers, Leroy and Steve, played bass, rhythm and Lead guitars. They sang for the Lord and played anointed music.
He worked on the Wolf Point Volunteer Ambulance in 1980s as an E.M.T. on weekends and nights and worked in the daytime at A& S Industries until 1991. He became a licensed practical nurse in 1998 and worked in many places in North Dakota and Montana. He also became a licensed addiction counselor. He took the state boards in half the time and received a high score.
He is survived by his wife, Sandy; daughters, Mariah Dawn Douglas Old Person and Shaniah Rose Douglas; sisters, Vivian Jones, Louella Contreras, Tara Douglas and Mellissa Cantrell; brother, Jeffrey; and numerous grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Leroy, Steve, William, Duane, Jesse and John Douglas; and sisters, Mildred Clancy and Joanne White Eagle.
His funeral was held Monday, Dec. 28, at the Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel in Wolf Point. Interment was at Box Elder Cemetery in Poplar. Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel was entrusted with the arrangements.
