Kathleen Hove

Kathleen H. (Fry) “Kathy” Hove, 85, of Circle died Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2020, at the Mc-Cone County Health Center.
She was born Jan. 18, 1935, at her grandma Reed’s house in Van Wert, Iowa, the daughter of Walter and Clara “Ellen” (Reed) Fry. She was the fifth of 11 children. There were no hospitals within 30+ miles. A doctor would come to say “all is okay.”
She started school in Grand River where her father worked on a farm and graduated from eighth grade. They moved to Orient, Iowa, and, in 1953, she graduated from Orient High School. She participated in basketball and was homecoming queen.
Soon after graduating, she took a job at a factory in Creston, Iowa, where she did well. She saved money and decided to take a bus trip to visit her brother and his wife in Montana. This is where she met Archie who was working on an oil well in the same area. They met at a dance in Wolf Point. They were married on Nov. 14, 1953, in Wolf Point and raised five children. They lived on the Hove family farm until the children started school and they moved into Circle for school in the early 1960s.
She received her LPN in 1968 and spent many years in the medical field in many different areas (surgery, ER, office nurse and worked in the lab and x-rays). Archie died in 2013. She retired from nursing in her 70s.
She was a hard worker, compassionate nurse and loving wife and mother. She was proud of her family’s achievements in sports, music, academics and career choices. She was thankful for her granddaughter Kimberly and her husband Dan Haynie as they were responsible for her having a place and help her with her weakening body.
She is survived by her children, Daleen Heitz of Billings, Sydney Hove of Minot, N.D., Mark Hove of Circle and Philip Hove of York, Pa.; sister, Lena Rauh; brothers, Doyle Fry, Roger Fry and Randy Fry, all of Iowa; 12 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by her husband; one sister; five brothers; a grandson, Christopher Hove; and son, Arnie Hove.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 12, at the First Lutheran Church in Circle. Interment was in the Prairie Lawn Cemetery in Vida.
