Commissioners Approve Dispatch Upgrade, Courthouse Repairs

The Roosevelt County Commissioners held their regular meeting Tuesday, Nov. 24. Commissioners Gary Macdonald, Duane Nygaard and Gordon Oelkers, presiding officer, were in attendance.

The Roosevelt County Dispatch Center requested approval of an upgrade to the 911 system. Dispatch supervisor Jeff Wozniak told the commissioners that the current system without the upgrade will only allow the department to record two lines at once. The commissioners approved the upgrade at a cost of $8,803.60, which will be paid out of state funds.

Maintenance requested approval on a service/support agreement for improvements to the detention center doors and locks. The request was approved at a cost of $6,400. Maintenance also requested funds for new brass trim hardware and fittings for the courthouse doors. The commissioners approved $7,780.

A motion to purchase one automated temperature screening station for use in the courthouse lobby was approved by a vote of 2-1. Oelkers said the purchase would be 100 percent refundable from pandemic funding sources.

“This would be something we could do to be proactive,” said Oelkers.

Macdonald opposed the motion, saying, “This is a terrible waste of dollars.”

Dispatch employee Tegan Keller resigned. The department also saw trainee Jeffery Berger Jr. approved for hire.

Claims were accepted for Nov. 19 in the amount of $198,682.46.

An annual pay raise was approved for treasurer’s office employee Jenna Presser.

Julie Bach was approved to serve on the county health board, replacing Shelli Isle.

Minutes were approved for the Nov. 10 public meeting and a special administrative meeting Nov. 16.
