Public Hearing Dates Set For Keystone XL Pipeline

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District, has scheduled public hearings for the purpose of collecting information or evidence which will be considered in evaluating the proposed USACE permit action for the Keystone XL Pipeline.

TC Energy, formerly Transcanada, first proposed Keystone XL in 2008 to carry up to 830,000 barrels of crude oil per day to Nebraska. From there, it could access existing pipelines for shipment to the Gulf of Mexico.

The Obama administration twice rejected the pipeline, citing the potential to worsen climate change, but Trump invited the company to resubmit its application.

During the public hearings, interested parties will be afforded the opportunity to present their views, opinions and information on the proposed project.

Hearing dates are scheduled for Sept. 28 for Montana; Sept. 29 for South Dakota and Oct. 1 for Nebraska.

All three hearings will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. Central Standard Time. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the public hearings will be virtual.

Dial-in access numbers include 888-251-2949 or 215-861-0694. The access code is 4691237#. The public notice can be viewed at https://go.usa. gov/xfHFT.
