Mail

mail at a distribution center for delivery the following day, if carriers are unable to complete their route on time.

Gianforte’s full letter reads: “I am writing you today to demand that the Postal Service maintain its regular service and not delay mail delivery times. On July 14, 2020, a series of Postal Service documents were leaked detailing changes to operations because of COVID-19. The proposed changes included restricting letter carrying activities and overtime, reducing office time for the mail sorting process, and prohibiting extra trips to deliver mail. These proposals would have a significant negative impact on the timely delivery of mail. Delaying mail service is unacceptable. As the country continues to combat COVID-19, on-time mail delivery keeps our communities connected. Montanans depend on reliable access to mail to receive prescription drugs, online purchases, and financial documents. Any delays in receiving mail would disproportionately impact rural Americans. Do not continue down this road.”
