Dustin Portra

Dustin Kenneth Portra, age 23, tragically passed away at his home in Sidney, Mont., on June 13, 2020.

Dustin was born on Aug. 24, 1996, at 5:44 p.m. in Sidney, Mont. He was the first born son to Faith Portra Boysun and the second grandchild of Kenneth and Darlene Portra.

Dustin spent his early years living with his mom in Sidney, then moved to Culbertson and attended kindergarten there. He then moved with his grandparents, and his brother Nicholas, to a farm north of Poplar, where he attended school in Froid and was also homeschooled. They then moved to Lustre, Mont., in 2008.

Dustin attended his freshman year at Daystar Adventist Academy in Utah. The next three years of school were at Milo Adventist Academy in Oregon. He enjoyed soccer as well as basketball where he and his brother helped win a championship at Walla Walla Tournament his senior year. He went on mission trips to Arizona, the Dominican Republic and Panama, where he helped build churches, repair buildings and minister to the people. He also traveled to Mexico and Hawaii.

After high school, he moved back to Lustre and attended Fort Peck Community College in Poplar for two years completing both a welding and automotive class. Dustin then completed one semester of welding at MSU-Northern. He loved to weld and spent a lot of time working on hopper bottoms in Lustre. Dustin then started work at Trasco in Miles City, welding train cars.

He met Loverty Lindsay in late 2017 and were together for the next two and a half years. He moved to Sidney where he worked at Agri Industries for a year and a half alongside Loverty’s father, Billy Lindsay, who he formed a very close friendship with.

He loved his family dearly and was always willing to help however he could. Dustin was a Denver Broncos fan as well as a Denver Nuggets fan. He and his brother spent many hours riding go-carts, playing basketball, football and having air soft wars with friends. He grew up in the Adventist faith and believing in the Lord Jesus as his savior. He was baptized on Nov. 18, 2006.

Dustin was preceded in death by his grandfather, Kenneth Portra.

Dustin is survived by his brothers, Nicholas and Matthew Portra; his mother, Faith Boysun; his grandmother, Darlene Portra; and his girlfriend, Loverty Lindsay. He also leaves behind; uncles, an aunt, cousins and many friends.

A memorial service will take place Thursday, July 2, 2020, at 2 p.m. at Clayton -Stevenson Memorial Chapel in Wolf Point, Mont.
