Culbertson Ball Teams Do Well In Weekend Action Against Circle, Ray

Culbertson's basketball squads swept all four of their games against Circle and Ray, N.D., during the weekend.

The Cowgirls opened the weekend with a 35-34 victory in Circle Friday, Jan. 17.

Culbertson trailed 18-15 at the half but struck for 11 points in the third quarter to gain a 26-24 lead.

Kelsie Williams led the Cowgirls with 13 points and Makena Hauge added 11 points. Also scoring were Fallon Sun Rhodes with six and Megan Granbois with five.

Ryann Moline accounted for 27 of Circle's points.

The Cowgirls then downed Ray, N.D., 56-25, on Saturday, Jan. 18.

Culbertson jumped out to a 10-0 lead in the first quarter and led 23-10 at intermission. The Cowgirls increased the margin to 44-19 in the third quarter.

Reaching double figures for Culbertson were Hauge with 20, Sun Rhodes with 14 and Williams with 10. Rounding out the scoring were Koree Marchwick with four, Megan Granbois with four, Alicyn Ator with two and Ashtyn Ator with two.

The Culbertson Cowboys opened their week with an impressive 71-50 victory over Circle Friday.

Culbertson gained a 22-8 lead in the first quarter. The Cowboys added 13 points in the second quarter for a 35-19 advantage.

Ahead 52-40 at the end of the third period, Culbertson accounted for 19 points in the final quarter to put the game away.

The Cowboys then stopped Ray, 62-45, on Saturday night.

Ahead 14-11 at the end of the opening quarter, the Cowboys ran off 21 points in the second period for a 35-20 advantage.

The Cowboys led 47-34 after three quarters of play.
