Scobey City Council Holds Hearings
The Scobey City Council held its regular meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 24. Public hearings were held for the 2026-2027 budgets and plans for Street Lighting Improvement District #18, which saw no increase over last year and Street Maintenance District #19, also no increase.
A hearing was also held for an increase to the sewer base rate of $1 per customer.
During the public works report, director Steve Berreth said potholes were being filled and crack sealing efforts are planned for next week.
Perry Wolfe was on hand to question the council in detail about plans to reconcile city building and construction related codes with current state standards and specifi cations.

The council passed resolutions approving revised language for at-large election ballots, the creation a taxpayer reserve fund at a cost of $759 and a permissible medical levy for city employees. The council also approved the $1 increase on the sewer base rate.
A resolution calling for a clarification to the 50/50 Sidewalk Project handicap ramp specification was tabled for additional information.
Berreth detailed expenses for water tank maintenance. The council passed a resolution approving a bid from PTTG Maintenance for tank draining and cleaning at a cost of approximately $20,000.
