Poplar Girls Split Games

 

Poplar’s girls’ basketball team split its two games at the Lockwood tournament during the weekend.

The Indians defeated Roundup by an 82-14 final on Friday, Dec. 9.

Poplar gained a 33-6 lead in the first quarter. Jazmyn Carrywater and Kessee Erickson each scored eight points in the period.

Poplar held a 64-14 at the half.

Reaching double figures for the Indians were Erickson with 16, Carrywater with 11 and Braelyn Nordwick with 10 points.

Also scoring were Saydee Archambault with eight, Morgen Nordwick with seven, Mattie Falls Down with seven, Cammie Martell with seven, Rikki Belton with six, EmmaRae Martell with five and Alyania Matuck with five.

Poplar then fell short against Shepherd, 61-44, on Saturday, Dec. 10.

Poplar trailed by only a 3129 margin at the end of the third quarter but fell behind 53-37 in the third quarter.

M. Nordwick led the Indians with 19 points.

Also scoring were B. Nordwick with seven, Falls Down with six, C. Martell with five, E. Martell with two, Belton with two, Bailey Dupree with two and Archambault with one.

Poplar will host Wolf Point on Friday, Dec. 16, and head to Harlem on Saturday, Dec. 17.
