City Council Talks Speed Bumps, Malt Liquor
The Wolf Point City Council held their regular meeting Monday Sept. 19. During the public comment period, Imogene Lilley spoke up on the subject of speed bumps.
Mayor Chris Dschaak told the Northern Plains Independent that the conversation will be ongoing as various projects are considered for Wolf Point’s streets and alleys.
A resolution to ban the sale of malt liquor was discussed. Dschaak said the matter is under review pending input from legal. He added that city attorney candidates to fill the vacancy left recently by Anna Rose Sullivan are being considered. During parks and recreation, ideas were discussed for making Triangle Park more usable and inviting. Dschaak said the conversation will be ongoing.
Bryce Kirk from the Tribal Executive Board visited the meeting and also participated in a lengthy discussion of Triangle Park and other matters during the Fort Peck Tribal Council report.
The Capital Improvement Plan was approved for signing by Dschaak, as was a corresponding DBE plan form.
At press time, building permits were in process for a Northeast Montana Health Services garage and signage for Zen Medicine, as well as a final inspection for a new marijuana dispensary on the north side of U.S. Highway 2.
During the fire department report, Dschaak reminded everyone that the Fireman’s Ball is coming up on Oct. 15. Tickets are on sale.
The investment committee reported that a CD with Opportunity Bank due to mature Sept. 23 of this year has been rolled over.
Monthly treasurer reports were approved. Meeting minutes were approved for the June, July and August regular meetings.
The next regular council meeting is set for Oct. 17 at 7 p.m.
