Mobile Memory Cafe Attracts Good Crowd

The mobile memory cafe was well attended at the Daniels County Library on Wednesday afternoon. The program, sponsored by AARP, was presented by the Montana State University Extension Services.

“We’re very happy with the turnout,” Extension Agent Inga Hawbaker said. “It was a good resource for our community members.”

Lisa Brachwitz, program manager of the Mobile Memory Cafe program, presented information to the turnout of more than 20 individuals. The program was then held in Glasgow on Thursday and Plentywood on Friday.

“She’s doing a tour of northeastern Montana,” Hawbaker said. The mobile memory cafe travels across the state to provide a welcoming space for individuals and caregivers who want to learn more about memory loss. The program offers free events that cover dementia education and awareness, local resources and meaningful activities designed to spark conversation and connection.

Topics covered during the program included:

• What dementia is and how it affects individuals

• Early warning signs of memory loss

• How dementia is detected and diagnosed

• What to expect after a diagnosis • Brain health and strategies for living well with dementia

• Effective communication with people experiencing memory loss.
