{"id":71792,"date":"2023-12-14T05:00:30","date_gmt":"2023-12-14T12:00:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/uswps06.newsmemory.com\/northernplainsindependent\/news\/2023\/12\/14\/mabel-renz-20231213-0434-252495\/?destination=northern-plains-independent"},"modified":"2024-09-13T15:42:45","modified_gmt":"2027-03-02T15:42:45","slug":"mabel-renz-20231213-0434-252495","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.northernplainsindependent.com\/2023\/12\/14\/mabel-renz-20231213-0434-252495\/?destination=northern-plains-independent","title":{"rendered":"Mabel Renz"},"content":{"rendered":"","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p> Mabel Hackley Renz, 94, passed peacefully Dec. 4, 2023, with family present.<br \/>\n\t  Mabel was born on the family farm in the Cherry Creek community south of Culbertson on July 23, 1929, fourth of eight children, to H.T. and Leoma Hackley.<br \/>\n\t  She attended Cherry Creek School and graduated from Culbertson High School.<br \/>\n\t  She worked in the bank in Culbertson and then moved to Wolf Point and worked at Western Bank and in the evenings  at the theater \u2014 she told us she never attended the free movie after her shift.<br \/>\n\t  She met Robert Renz in Culbertson and they were married in Miles City in 1955. They resided on the Renz family homestead along the Missouri River south of Poplar,  where they farmed and ranched for many years. She moved thousands of small bales with her Oliver tractor and bale wagon!<br \/>\n\t  Although they never had children of their own, they were very involved with generations  of nieces and nephews- following their school and sports events, and taking them on the Culbertson Trail Ride.<br \/>\n\t  Mabel was a long-time active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Poplar.  She also belonged to the Mona Homemakers for many years.
