He spent the first six years of his life on the farm located on the Milk River  Coulee along the Missouri River.<br \/>\n\t  In 1935, due to the construction  of the Fort Peck Dam, the family relocated to the farm just southeast of Nashua.<br \/>\n\t  He grew up working the farm until being drafted into the Army.<br \/>\n\t  After returning from the Army, he met and married Idell Kappes on July 17, 1954.<br \/>\n\t  He and his brother Dick took over the family farm. After Dick decided farming wasn\u2019t his lifelong calling, he sold his stake in the farm to Pete.
