{"id":44972,"date":"2022-08-04T05:00:10","date_gmt":"2022-08-04T11:00:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www-northernplainsindependent-com-uswp*.sitenm.com\/?p=44972?destination=northern-plains-independent"},"modified":"2025-06-05T08:13:26","modified_gmt":"2027-11-22T08:13:26","slug":"obituaries-20220803145238","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.northernplainsindependent.com\/2022\/08\/04\/obituaries-20220803145238\/?destination=northern-plains-independent","title":{"rendered":"Linda Melbourne"},"content":{"rendered":"","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"\n<p>\t Linda Melbourne, 66, of Brockton died on July 29, 2022, at Poplar Community Hospital.<br \/>\n\t  If you knew her, you knew she was a private person and respect was something she held to a high standard.<br \/>\n\t  She was born on May 8, 1956, at the Poplar Community  Hospital to Susan Beverly Melbourne and Clifton Ray Cheek Sr. As the oldest, she would later welcome sisters Charlene Cheek and Donna Yellow Hammer and brother Clifton Ray Cheek Jr.<br \/>\n\t  She attended elementary and high school in Brockton, graduating in 1974.<br \/>\n\t  She found her calling in the profession of nursing. She attended college at Eastern Montana College in Billings and Williston State College, in Williston, N.D. After working  in the nursing and medical  field for several years, she worked for various tribal programs  and spent the last few years of her life working for the tribal veterans program in Poplar.<br \/>\n\t  Throughout her entire life, she devoted her time to helping  and visiting her many relatives  across the reservation. Whether it was lobbying for her relatives or a friend in need at the Fort Peck Tribal Board or another community agency, she was always there willing to help anyone who asked.<br \/>\n\t  She married Todd Mc-Clammy at the age of 29. Throughout their 36 years together,  they had six children, Thomas \u201cGreeny\u201d Jerome, Michael Failing, Martha Failing-  Kearns, Marlene Failing,  \u201cTolly\u201d McClammy.<br \/>\n\t  She was the matriarch of her family and tried to keep all her relatives close and taught them to be supportive  of each other, especially in times of need. She made many friends throughout her lifetime and valued their friendship.<br \/>\n\t  She is survived by her children,  Mike, Marlene, Martha and William \u201cTolly;\u201d numerous  grandchildren; and adopted  sister, Verbena Savior.<br \/>\n\t  She was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Todd McClammy, brother,  Clifton Jr.; sister, Donna Yellow Hammer; daughter, Johnnie McClammy; and son, Thomas \u201cGreenie\u201d Jerome.<br \/>\n\t  A rosary was held on Wednesday, Aug. 3, at 7 p.m. at the Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Poplar.  Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Aug. 4, at 10 a.m. at the Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Riverside  Catholic Cemetery.
