He was the seventh of nine children. As a child, he worked with his siblings  in their father\u2019s garden.  He and his brothers also worked with their father  at the Sprole elevator.<br \/>\n\t  He joined the National  Guard right out of high school and was very proud of this. He also worked in the oilfields with his father and older brothers. He worked with a seismography crew with his older brothers, which is where he got hurt and wasn\u2019t able to work again.<br \/>\n\t  He moved to Miles City and lived in group homes until he was able to live on his own.
