He attended school in Culbertson, graduating high school in 1973. While in school, he played football and basketball.<br \/>\n\t  After graduation, he attended  the College of Forestry  &amp;  Conservation in Missoula.  Following graduation, he worked for the forest service  in the Pryor Mountains. He also worked in the gold mines in Elko, Nev.<br \/>\n\t  He was a skilled carpenter  and took great pride in his work. This experience led him to various construction  jobs in Trenton, N.D., with the Housing Authority.  He also worked as a carpenter  and held positions as a steel siding specialist in Bozeman, Missoula and Livingston.<br \/>\n\t  Due to a job-related injury,  he went back to college  in Billings to obtain his CAD certification. From this knowledge, he was able to obtain a position at a printing company in Livingston.
