Human Stampede Will Return During Celebration

Floats Needed For Parade

The Human Stampede is returning as part of the 100th year Wolf Point Wild Horse Stampede this summer.

During the planning committee’s meeting on Monday, Jan. 30, the Northeast Montana Health Services stepped up to become sponsors for the Human Stampede.

Michael Post, CEO, and Taylor Gardner, director of marketing and public relations, told the committee that they wished for NEMHS to begin more active for the Stampede since the hospital has received a good amount of funds through Stampede events during the years.

Organizers of the event will include Wolf Point track coach R.C. Page, Cole Baker and Gardner.

Tentative schedule is for the 10K run to begin at 7 a.m. on Saturday, July 8. A 5K run and walk will start about 9 a.m.

Committee members urge organizations and businesses to enter a float during the Stampede parades. Theme is “100 Year of the Granddaddy of Montana Rodeo.”

The date for the “Saddle Up and Open Chutes For the 100th annual Wolf Point Wild Horse Stampede” auction event to raise funds for the Stampede has been changed to Friday, May 5.

The Stampede festivities will start Wednesday, July 5, with a steak fondue at the Big Sky Corral and the Wild Horse Ranch Rodeo, followed by the Kyle Shobe and The Walk ‘Em Boys concert, located at the Marvin Brookman Stadium.

Grand marshals selected are Clint and Arlyss Long, 40-year Wild Horse Stampede committee members who served as chairman and secretary for many years.

The Spotted Bull Treatment Center will host horse clinics during the Stampede.

Other activities will include a carnival, re-enactors, inflatable games for children, Art in the Park and the 100 club’s chair-ity and yard art auction.
