Tribal Employees To See 6 Percent Pay Increase
Employees of the Fort Peck Tribes will begin seeing an increase in their paychecks.
The Tribal Executive Board voted last week to give employees a 6 percent cost of living increases.
Tribal Executive Board member Alex Smith, chair of the finance committee, said the pay increase was part of the tribes’ 2022-2023 fiscal year budget.
The tribes employs an estimated 500 individuals.
The pay increase is higher than raises provided during the past few years.
“It’s been pretty much 3 percent the last few years,” Smith said. “With inflation and everything, we decided on 6 percent.”
In addition, directors of programs are permitting to give up to $2,000 incentives to their employees if the funds are in their program’s budgets. The $2,000 cap doesn’t apply to the health care department.
Smith notes the funds for the incentives are not coming from American Rescue Plan Act funds.
